Baths of Aphrodite

This beautiful spot situated on the Akamas Peninsula features a natural pool grotto surrounded by luxurious vegetation and old fig trees.

The grotto is said to be the place where Aphrodite used to bathe and pamper herself. Legend recounts that handsome Adonis, who was out hunting in the Akamas forest, stopped by the spring to quench his thirst and instantly fell under the spell of the captivating bathing goddess’ beauty. The Italian poet Ariosto has immortalised it as “Fontana Amorosa”. The crystal waters of the pond are very tempting but, alas, bathing is not allowed.
